Chemistry and Numbers 2: Sexy, Funny, Horrifying, and Yes, Successful Online Dating Stories from more than 50 Online Daters

Chemistry and Numbers: The Online Dating Guide is a breath of fresh air! With some of the other online dating guides I’ve read, I wanted to fall asleep before I even got off the first page.

Chemistry and Numbers helped me see the benefits that do exist in online dating. Although I’d always worried about the safety of online dating, Chemistry and Numbers gave me some very practical and useful tips for having a great time while staying safe.

In addition to safety tips, I also found the information on various online dating agencies to be very helpful. This part of the book helped me figure out which agnecy would likely help me the most. Since everybody is different, I needed some clarification on which agency would give me the best shot at finding a date online.

I would absolutely recommend this book to someone who is interested in finding an online dating service or even striking out on your own. You will find tons of valuable information to help you get started on the right foot.

FOUND: Love Online
By Jamie Biegeleisen

I gave him my number and we talked on the phone. Since things were still going well, we decided to meet that night. He drove to me and my first thought when I saw him was, “He’s so short!” Not the greatest start to a date, huh? We went to a bar and ended up having a great time. We were joking and laughing and getting along really well. Unfortunately, I felt that we were in two different phases of our lives-he was still trying to find himself, and I thought that I had already done so.
I don’t know why, but I agreed to a second date. On my drive down to visit him I called my best friend and said, “This is our second and last date. I’m only going because he drove to Baltimore and I feel bad about that. We’ll hang out on his turf and this will be it.” Seven hours later I was on my way back home, calling my brother at 2 a.m., and telling him that while it could have been something I had eaten, I was pretty sure I had butterflies. Fast forward three years later and we are married.

Getting Back on the Horse
By Julia Light

I walk down the stairs and just continue walking right out the door to the sidewalk up the block to my car jump in start her up and drive away. I have a pang of guilt. I dismiss it. How often have I been stood up, walked out on, or otherwise been “dissed”?
The following day I receive an angry email. “Where did you go? I thought you might’ve been hurt! I was worried!!!” The guilt returns. I’m not that type of person! I decide to email him the truth using the safety of the computer. I tell him that “you lied to me about your appearance. I was uncomfortable around you and I wasn’t sure what else you could be lying about. I did not mean for you to worry, but frankly we barely knew each other. Get some perspective. Best wishes.”

Nice Girls Don’t Internet Date
By Desdemona Bandini

He picked me up in his Cadillac Escalade SUV and dropped hints of his million-dollar ventures, but we had fun. The next date he wanted me to go to his palatial crib and watch a movie while he cooked for me. Translation: Sex. I was suppose to do the usual, “Oh, your car is big, your house is so nice, do me.” But I didn’t. I said I would go on a date, but not to his house. He threw a tantrum and that was that.
The next guy was James 007, who was from the South, and had an adorable photo of a blond yuppie that turned out to be very old. He had straggly black hair and looked like the devil. His music choice: Marilyn Manson. He requested I wear black. When he tried to spank me within 10 minutes of meeting me, I’d had enough.

Cyber Love and the Swingers Club
By Dana Verdino

Ken whispered in my ear, “They’re swingers. Everyone here swings.”
For a moment I sat there bewildered staring at the lemon slice in my empty martini glass. I had heard about swinger parties, but there was never any interest for me. The only place I swing is in a park.

Know the Facts of Online Dating

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Online dating is getting very popular and if you would like to join this world, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. As with the other aspects of life, you will have more success if you follow the rules of the game and treat other people with respect. Some people may not realize these rules but in the end it will mean the difference between you getting the date and continuing to be single.

If you find an attractive picture online, it is ok to tell the person that you think they are nice looking. However looks are not everything. If that is all that you have to say online, then it is going to be better not to say anything at all. Read the person’s profile so that you can say something more than just a comment about their looks.

You can read the profit in all situations. Always look at a person’s “My perfect date” section to see what he or she is going to be interested in. most people are looking for others within a certain age range and distance from home. They might also have preferences about children, smoking, religion, looks, race, and sexual preferences. If you are 33 and someone online is looking for a date between 20 and 28, he or she is not looking for you so you need to pass them by.

Do not send an initial email if you did not read the profile. Ask general questions like “How are you?” and “ What can you tell me about yourself?” can be annoying. Be more specific and ask the other person questions that can be answered in an email back to you and your questions will show her your personal interests.

The most important thing is if another person is not interested, move past them. Sometimes people will not answer your messages on purpose. Online is the acceptable way of showing that you have no interest. Do not repeatedly send messages that ask a person if they got your previous message. They got them and they are simply not interested. If someone writes you back and indicated that there is no chemistry for him or her, let the issue go. There are millions of other profiles for you to pursue and someone is going to reply. Writing back to that person and telling them that they are close-minded, mean, or something unpleasant is not going to help and it is against the websites rules. Use your common sense and do not do or say anything that you would never do or say in real life. Online dating can be more fun for everyone if you follow the etiquette rules.

Where to Go on Your First Date

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

That is an age-old question. Cave men had it made. They firmly believed in kidnapping and taking their date to a filthy cave out in the middle of nowhere. Those were what was known as the good old days. Now days first date destinations and plans are a little trickier. First let’s cover where NOT to go on a first date.

The old standby of dinner and a movie is a really poor choice for a first date. How will you get to know the lady if you are sitting in a darkened theater with a movie being shown? If you choose the movie, there is probably going to be a lot of frantic car chases and a lot of blood involved. Neither are conducive to creating a memorable evening.

Also, don’t take your date to your parent’s house! She will know right away that you are a mama’s boy and you will never see her again.

Don’t take your date to a sleazy bar with a motel out back. You will scare the poor woman to death. She will jump out of the car and hitchhike back to town believing that she would be safer with a burly truck driver than with you.
Now, some good first date ideas are:

Begin with a simple lunch or coffee date. You want to keep the date casual so suggesting meeting up for lunch or coffee can be a good start. This way, if the date didn’t go so well, you can end the date there but if you enjoy each other company, you have the rest of the day to spend getting to know each other better.

Here are some ideas of where to go if the lunch or coffee date tells you’re there is some good chemistry happening:

If it is the season, an amusement park or a theme park is a good first date idea. It doesn’t matter how old you are, we can all be big kids at heart. There’re so much you can do at amusement parks and theme parks that most likely you will forget about the dating pressure and just have fun.

Most well populated areas have an array of museums covering many different subjects. Visiting one that is dedicated to something that you have in common with the woman is another good first date idea.
